Fear Index Now Inverse of VIX

Tyler Durden submits:

Either the VIX is being gamed by volatility sellers into one of the biggest short squeeze rallies in recent history or the CSFB Fear Index should add the phrase "Lack Of" somewhere in its description. Or is mainstream media simply pumping whatever is the most behind the scenes manipulated index to promote a false sense of calm among the retail population?

Corsair Introduces New Extreme Series High-Performance SSDs

By Andrew Liszewski

This morning Corsair launched a new ‘extreme’ series of solid-state drives that use the Indilinx Barefoot controller, Samsung MLC NAND flash memory and 64MB of on-board cache to achieve read speeds of up to 240MB/sec and and write speeds of up to 170MB/sec. The drives will come in 3 capacities including 32GB, 64GB and 128GB and should be available worldwide immediately. While they’re obviously not the biggest SSDs on the market, if speed is your priority I’m sure these will work quite nicely.

Apple Finally Cripples iTunes Syncing For Pre

By Chris Scott Barr

Remember back when we found out that the Pre was able to sync with iTunes? I suspected that it wouldn’t be long until Apple put an end to that handy little feature. Well it took a good month and a half, but they’ve finally done it.

The latest iTunes update (8.2.1) mentions in the notes that it “addresses an issue with verification of Apple devices.” In case it wasn’t specific enough for you, it means that the Pre is no longer mistaken as an iPod. It was fun while it lasted guys, but if you want to keep using the two together, you probably shouldn’t update iTunes. Ever. Time to find something better to suit your music syncing needs.
